Henry (Holek) Popler, age 86, of Morrice, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home August 25, 2008.

Funeral: Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Perry. Pastor John Walworth officiated with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon.

Henry was raised and graduated in the Vernon area as Henry Holek, he married Wilma Geyer before joining the Army during WWII and fighting in Germany, earning the Bronze Star. He returned home and moved to Garden City, MI where he raised five children and worked in Dearborn at Fagle Tool & Die. He purchased the family farm in Morrice in the 1950's where he loved to tend a vegatable garden, hunt morel mushrooms and crack and eat hickory nuts. He truely enjoyed playing his accordian at several jamborees in the surrounding area.

He was survived by 4 children: Michael, Jeanette Benton, Henry, Jr. (Sharon), and Gary Popler, all of Morrice. 8 grandchildren: Craig, Keith, Glenn, Kimberly, Martine, Teri, Jackie, and Michael. 16 great-grandchildren. His sister Helen Ackley of Vernon and sister-in-law Leola Scollon of Owosso.

He was predeceased by his wife, daughter Cindy Humphrey and granddaughter Kimberly Benton.
