Death caused by cancer, came as agony to Mrs Wesley N. Smith last Thursday evening, July 13th at the Star Valley Hospital. Mrs Smith operated on April 21st, and after forty days in the hospital was well enough to come home where she seemed to improve for several weeks. She even got up and around and went to visit her neighbors but last Monday evening, her throat started to give her great pain and although she was rushed back to the hospital and to a throat specialist in Salt Lake City, she was unable to get any relief.
Mrs Smith (Luilla Ranzenberger) was the third daughter of Charley and Mary Harmon Ranzenberger. She was born in Providence, Utah, August 16, 1903. On January 3rd 1923 she married Wesley in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union five children were born, Elda, Nola LaDee, Karl and Norda Beth. It is hard for anyone to understand why such a charming young mother should be taken away from her family so early in life.
Luilla also leaves one brother Charles Ranzenberger and three sisters, Mrs Will Tolman, of Otto Wyo. Mrs Willard Brown and Mrs Leland Neilson to mourn.
Funeral services were held July 15th under the direction of Bishop J.L. Brown, with Gladys Shumway at the piano.
