She was born March 11, 1907 In Westfield, Wisconsin to Alvin George Alexander and Emma Elizabeth (Voll) Alexander. On June 16, 1934, Irene married George Frederick More, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1984.
The fourth child of eleven children, she had to assume a lot of responsibility during her early years. Irene was an elementary school teacher for about 30 years, teaching primarily in Richland Center, Wisconsin. While living in Blue River, Wisconsin she was a member of the Blue River United Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Auxiliary. Irene was also a member of Richland County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her four sons: Fred More and wife Marie of Milford, Pa.; George More and wife Sally of Cincinnati, Ohio; Paul More and wife Mary Rose of Galesville, Wisconsin; and John More and wife Janelle of Singapore, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
A Memorial Service was held at the Blue River United Methodist Church of Blue River, Wisconsin, with Pastor Harriet Rowland officiating at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008. Burial was held at the Blue River Cemetery.
Friends called at the Blue River United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
A Memorial has been established at the Blue River United Methodist Church, 307 David Street, Blue River, Wisconsin 53518.
