Bill was the son of William Alexander Semple, Sr., a woolen mill worker, and Lilla Davenport Semple and the grandson of Alexander Semple, Jr. and Elizabeth Wilson Semple.

He wed Grayce Belle Moulton about 1912. They had a son, William Alexander III, in 1915.

Bill lived in Manhattan, New York Co., New York for some years as an adult, and then he moved to Norwalk. He was a banker.

He died at the Lea Manor Convalescent Home in Norwalk of cerebral arteriosclerosis.

Bill had two grandchildren and two known great-grandchildren as of late 2008.
