Anchorage resident Wendy Liesa Florio, 49, died Nov. 4, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center from breast cancer. A visitation was at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel with a service. The Rev. Scott Medlock officiated. Burial took place at Angelus Memorial Park after the service. The family asked that those who attend wear bright clothing in honor of Wendy's spirit. A reception followed at Bayshore Clubhouse.

Wendy was born Jan. 28, 1958, in Loughton, Essex, England. She graduated from high school. Wendy became a resident of Anchorage in 1969. She worked for Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. and Veco Alaska. She enjoyed gardening and ceramics. Her family wrote: "Wendy was a beloved wife, wonderful daughter and sister, with a free spirit and infectious personality who made friends easily and forever. She was quick with a smile and a kind word. She was loved by all who knew her. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially kittens and cats."

Wendy is survived by her husband, Joseph Florio; mother, Margaret Newkirk; brothers and sisters, Lee Snelgrove, Sherry Willliams, Jennelle Dixson and Glen Newkirk; mother- and father-in-law, Joseph and Gail Florio; brother- and sisters-in-law, Geno Williams, Mellisa Carreau, Vicky Snelgrove, Alison O'Donnell and Kristina Blackadar; nieces and nephews, Andrew Snelgrove, Jazymne Dixson, Miles Williams, Malcolm Williams, Jonel Dixson, Joey Snelgrove, Jasmine Reed, Michaela Florio and McKinlee O'Donnell; and aunts, Betty Clapham and Helen McBride. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jaz Dixson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Resource Fund through Providence Alaska Foundation, P.O.
