Susanna Hardie's headstone reads that she was the "consort of Henry Hardie," which simply means "wife of" in the jargon of 1826 when she died at only 22 years old in April that year, probably in childbirth with her first pregnancy after a marriage nine months earlier at the end of June 1825.

Two handwritten letters exist (both images attached) about Susanna O'Hara & Henry Hardie's wedding. Both written on 13-June-1825. Henry Hardie himself co-signed a £50 Marriage Bond with another man called David Mulholland, of whom we do not know the relationship, but that he swore to support Henry & Susanna's wish to be wed, so long as there be "no impediments" (that she was both virtuous and not already married to another.) On that bond letter, Susanna's maiden name was spelled with two R's, while her own father signed the second letter and referred to his daughter by name with one R in their surname, which is not uncommon for names writ down in the 1800s to be fluid in spelling, even on legal documents. What is most interesting, is that the second letter from Susanna O'Hara's father Kean O'Hara respectfully requested the fifty pound marriage bond be waived, because he attested with his signature to the office that there was "no legal impediment... no need of precautionary measures in the case of their marriage," that his 21 year old daughter was virtuous and free to marry Henry Hardie. Mr. O'Hara even stated he had the Revered Mr. Charles Coomis on his ready and in support of performing the marriage ceremony.

Susanna O'Hara & Henry Hardie did marry that June 1825, as attested by her headstone as his "consort" (wife) the next spring, with her young death at age 22 in April 1826. Did the child live?
