Harry E. Nollsch, 88, Rapid City, SD, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Fountain Springs Health Care in Rapid City.

Harry was born on October 13, 1919 at Murdo, SD, the son of the late Bismark and Nellie Nollsch. He grew up on area farms and attended rural schools. At 17 years of age, Harry enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He entered the U.S. Army June 16, 1942. He served overseas in North Africa, Italy and Germany, earning numerous medals including a Purple Heart. He was mechanic on L-2, L-3 and L-4 observation planes as a Technical Sgt. Harry was discharged on September 19, 1945.

Harry married Dorothy J. Cady on January 24, 1947. They both graduated from North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis.

They pastored churches in Custer, SD and Red Wing, MN where he was involved in helping in a school for delinquent boys, and in New York.

After returning to Rapid City in 1994, they ministered in various nursing homes. Harry enjoyed sharing his World War II experiences with local school children. He was an active member of the VFW and Canyon Lake Senior Center Writers Group.

Harry is preceeded in death by his parents; an infant son, Steven; brother, Glen and sister, Joy.
