Mr. Cannon was born in Savannah, Oct. 23, 1863, the son of Charles L. and Martha Davis Cannon. The family move to Macon when he was a small boy. Shortly after their removal to Macon Mr. Cannon obtained employment with the Macon Savings Bank as a messenger and he worked steadily upward until he became cashier and later vice president. Mr. Cannon was a member of the Mulberry Street Methodist Church and for many years, and until recently, he had been a member of the board of trustees of that church. The board of stewards will act as honorary pallbearers at the funeral services this afternoon. The service will be conducted by Bishop W. N. Ainsworth and Dr. C. R. Jenkins, the pastor. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Cannon had been in poor health for some time and had not been at his place at the bank in several weeks. On Friday he suffered a stroke of paralysis, which hastened the end. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and two sons, J. W. Cannon, Jr., of Dawson, and Charles LeGrande Cannon, of Macon; Mrs. H. D. Marshall, of Macon and Mrs. E. E. Harter, of Bellaire, O. Two half-brothers, H. D. Cutter and W. H. Cutter, of this city.
