Immigrated to Canada with his sisters Susan (married William Eddy) and Ann (married William Forbes). Later went to Boston where he was a shoemaker. Enlisted August 8, 1862 at Weymouth, Massachusettes - Co. H of the 35th Regiment of Massachusettes Infantry and fought in the Civil War. His health was broken while held in Charleston Prison. Returned to Clifton, New Brunswick prior to his death at the age of 40 years 3 months
