ROSEDALE.

From The Terre Haute Gazette.

THOMAS HARRISON YOWELL

Died, at his home, three miles west of here, Harrison Yowell, aged 68 years, after a few weeks illness. He leaves three children, Mrs. America Thorpe, Fred Yowell and Marian Yowell; also two grandchildren, who were living with him. His wife died one year ago, Dec 1. He never recovered from the grief of her death. Rev. Reed made some appropriate remarks at the house. Mr. Yowell requested before he died that no funeral sermon be preached, as his life was his sermon itself. He was a member of the Lower Baptist church at the Forks of the Creek. The interment was in the Adams cemetery. Another highly respected citizen and pioneer has gone to his long rest.

Note: He was the son of Thomas Yowell and Mildred "Millie" Barnes. He was born in Indiana on April 8, 1839 and died January 21, 1901 in Parke, Indiana. He married Tabitha Ann Hawkins daughter of Pleasant Fielding and Sarah "Sallie" Barnes Hawkins. To this union six children were born. Besides America, Fred and Marian, he was preceded in death by daughter Cora who married Felix Thorpe and Luvadie and Merita.
