Louie H. Hammerschmidt, 80, of Monticello died March 4, 1962 at Kirby Hospital. He had been there a month. Funeral services were held at Mackey Funeral Home with burial in Monticello cemetery.
He was born October 24, 1881 in Monticello, the s/o Charles and Sophia Gilman Hammerschmidt. He married Katherine Wittig of Monticello on June 14, 1906. She died May 7, 1938. He then married Mrs. Bertha McGrath April 19, 1941, who survives. He is also survived by two sons: Louie Jr. and Harold, Monticello; one daughter: Mrs. Bertha Tucker, Bement; two half-brothers, August and William of Monticello; a half-sister, Mrs. Anna Fitzwater, Champaign and three grandchildren.
