John Charles Taylor, Jr., 87, passed away October 1, 2008 at Shasta Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Ukiah, CA on April 22, 1921.

John is survived by his wife, Anne, of Redding, CA, his two sons David Taylor (Kathy) of Redding, Lonnie Malcolm Taylor (Carrie) of Nibley, Utah, and daughter Vicki Brinan of San Ardo, CA. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Taylor, of Redding and preceded in death by his brother Robert Taylor, sister, Barbara Hurlburt, and son-in-law, Billy Brinan. John leaves 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

John, a Wells Fargo Bank retiree, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was one of the founding members of the Monterey County Symphony, a member of the Shasta College Symphony and North State Symphony, Shasta Community Concert Association and was a 32nd Degree Mason. John was also a member of the REMAC RC Flying Club in Redding, CA.

His hobbies included, but were not limited to: sailing, flying Radio Control aircraft, playing viola and violin. He was a fishing consultant, short story author and an artist. John was a devoted father and grandfather and loving husband to his wife Anne, of 65 years.
His celebration of life will be held at the Redding RC Flying Field at the Buckeye transfer site (North on Lake Drive. Right turn at large gate, ½ mile past Pine Grove Avenue), on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. Inturnment will take place at El Carmelo cemetery in Pacific Grove, CA at a later date.
