While Andrew W. Shook was in Civil War (believed to be in Ky) going with Sherman march to the sea he & a few other men got pneumonia & were put in a wagon by themselves so not to infect the other men.
Well Abraham Lincoln & his men came by & saw the men & went and shook hands with them. (as told by Andrew W Shook's grandaughter)

His Mother Elisabeth was a Midwife
& delivered some of
Andrew & Constantia's children
in Olney Il.

4. Albert Dewitt
5. Harry Lee
6. Omer Scott
7. Ross Oliver Scott
8. Gertrude Hildegard
9. Flora Belle (died as an infant, possibly around 1871)

Note: Andrew's Dad John Wm. Shook
was buried on their farm & land was
flooded to make lake years later.
Believe he is still on farm site.
Don't know if his grave was ever moved.
This was in Olney, Richland Co, IL.

OBIT from Jetmore Repubican, Oct 2, 1914:
A. Shook died at his home at Hanston, Sept 26, 1914. He was riding his horse along the street when it stumbled and fell throwing him and injuring him so severely he died in a short time. Mr. Shook came here in 1885.
Andrew Shook was born in Richland, Illinois April 9, 1845 and remained there until 1861 when he enlisted in Co I 63rd Ill Reg and served to the end of the war. In 1868 he married Constantia Jones. To this union 7 boys and 2 girls were born. 8 survive him. Funeral services were at the M.E. Church with burial in the Hansont Cemetery.
