James J. Murray is listed as a Confederate soldier in the Americus Times Recorder" Newspaper Oct 4, 1917, page 7. There was not a pension application on line in the virtual vault as yet. But in Fold3 military records he has a record which says he enlisted in April 1862 at Camp Stevens with Capt Jordon's Company, Lawtonts Regiment, which is identified in later pages as Company G of the 2nd GA Cavalry; enlisted in Sumter County. He was 25 years old.
