Howard Gooch Ball, son of Charles A. and Carrie Gooch Ball, was born March 13, 1894, on a farm east of Rydal, and died February 21, 1987, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and eight days.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

He was united in marriage to Grace Adelia Jensen on February 24, 1914 and to this union three daughters were born.

He lived all his life in Kansas except for short time in Arkansas and four years in California. He cared for his wife until her death on February 21, 1952, after which he lived among his three daughters. The last several years were spent with his daughter, Lillian near Olsburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four brothers and one grandson.

He is survived by three daughters, Lillian McClain of Olsburg, Mrs. Clarence (Alice) Hamilton of Scandia, Mrs. Eugene (Patricia) Herrman of Scandia; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Memorial Chapel of Belleville on February 25, conducted by Rev. Mark Irwin and Rev. Sterling Hudgins. Internment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
