CALDWELL -- D. Ford Radcliff, 93, of Caldwell, died Saturday, (May 7, 2011) at Marietta Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Caldwell, son of the late David Willard and Gertha Ethel Tilton Radcliff.
Mr. Radcliff was a 1935 graduate of Caldwell High School and a World War II veteran, having served as a medical supply officer with the U.S. 6th Army in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He was a retired book keeper having worked for Crock and Schafer Construction, the Ava Brick Company and the Washington Electric Cooperative.

Mr. Radcliff had served as a member and former president of the Caldwell Exempt Village School Board for more than 20 years. He enjoyed walking and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Patten Radcliff, whom he married on Nov. 1, 1947, and who died Aug. 27, 2000; two sisters, Margery Sears and Mary Radcliff; three brothers, Frank, Corl and Charles Radcliff.

Surviving are his children, Larry (Joan) Radcliff of West Jefferson, Paul (Nancy) Radcliff of Noblesville, Ind., Don (Becky) Radcliff of Plain City, Carol (Bill) Schneeberger of Whipple, Charles Radcliff, Mary (George) Clark and Mark (Michele) Radcliff, all of Caldwell, Beth (Allen) McElroy of Whipple and Dale (Jennifer) Radcliff of Hudsonville, Mich.; a brother, Willard Radcliff of Caldwell; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at New Harmony Baptist Church, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Mark Leslie officiating.

Burial will be in Dudley Cemetery. Veterans graveside honors will be conducted by Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
