Mrs. Retha Hartman Radovich, 81, died peacefully on Feb. 23, 2005, in Baltimore, Maryland, after a bout with cancer.

She was born in 1924 and was the daughter of Charles and Pearlie Hartman.

Mrs. Radovich grew up in Franklin and moved to Baltimore, Maryland, at the age of 18 to work for Eastern Aircraft during World War II. She worked as a welder at Martin Marietta for 20 years and a nurse at City Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, for seven years, until retiring in the early 1970's to help with her granddaughter, Nicole French.

Although much of her life was spent in Baltimore, Maryland, she always affectionately referred to Franklin as her home.

On Sept. 5, 1944, she married Francis Marion Radovich, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda J. West of Baltimore, Maryland; a granddaughter, Nicole D. Kelley of Towson, Maryland; two sisters: Catherine Smith of Franklin and Dessie Witt of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers; Edwin Hartman and Charles Hartman, both of Franklin; and a half brother, Leslie Lambert of Franklin.

Funeral services were held at Evans Funeral Chapel in Baltimore, Maryland on Feb. 26. Bishop Robert Moesinger conducted the service with inspirational talks given by Pastor Winnie Gilliam, Roland Huebner and Kathy and Don Wessel. She had requested her friend, Vanessa Lawson to sing the "Lord's Prayer" at her funeral. She was laid to rest at Parkwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Baltimore, Maryland.
