Also surviving is his son, Dustin Trainer (companion, Tara Myers) of Rushville; two daughters, Jeanette Pierson of Springfield and Crystal (husband, Mike) Bennett of Chatham; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Kyle Pierson, Zachary and Katelyn Trainer and Mikaela, Tessa and Tyler Bennett; one sister, Anna Silsby of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Gene Silsby; one nephew, Fred Silsby; and one niece, Elizabeth Silsby.
Mr. Silsby was formerly employed with Caterpillar in East Peoria and Trinity Steel and H&R Block in Beardstown. He retired in 1987 after 20 years of service with Bohn Heat Transfer, where he also served 10 years as president of UAW Local 760 two years prior to the closing of the plant in Beardstown. He received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Lincoln Land Community College and was also a licensed paralegal. Wayne loved fishing, mushroom hunting and playing poker on Saturday nights. Known as a "jack of all trades," he enjoyed using his auto mechanic skills to benefit his family and friends.
Services were entrusted to Sager Funeral Home of Beardstown, Illinois.
