Cavalry Regiment Arkansas. Edward survived the Civil War, and as an adult he
served his community as sheriff, councilman, Mayor, farmer, and merchant. In
his photo posted here, Edward is wearing his Civil War Veteran's jacket.

McConnell selected the location for the Arkansas Confederate Home and is credited with choosing the site for the old statehouse as well as the present day State Capitol. He superintended the excavation work for that building. In Clarksville he built the first electric plant and the Arlington Hotel, as well as the opera house in the 1880's.
