husband of Melissa EmpeyRev. William Case Empey was the youngest son of Thomas and Mary Empey. He was the husband of Melissa M. (Butts) Empey. They were married September 16, 1843. Melissa died May 10, 1895. William was raised in the Wesleyan Methodist Church and in 1842 he was Licensed To Exhort in that denomination. In 1850 he took up his permanent residence in the United States, and in 1855 was Licensed To Preach in the Methodist Episcopal Church by Rev. Gardner Baker. Rev. Case was admitted to the Black River Conference in 1856 - Northern New York Conference in 1872. He was especially gifted in prayer and exhortation, and was blessed with an unusual gift of song. For thirty-one years he was actively engaged in the work of the ministry.
