Norman C. Forster, 57, of 2725 S. Michael Place, died Saturday morning in Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, after a long illness.

Surviving are his wife, Martha of Traverse City; two sons, David of Grand Rapids and Michael of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three grandchildren, Tammi and Scott of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Kristine of Traverse City; a sister Mrs. Stanley (Thelma) Baker of Indianapolis, Ind., and his mother, Mrs. Henrietta Forster, Shelbyville, Ind.. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Mrs. Bernard (Ava Mae) Wright of Waldron, Ind.

He was born 11 Nov 1916 in Shelbyville, Ind., to Earl and Henrietta Forster. He was married 2 Jun 1939 in Shelbyville, Ind. to Martha Whitcomb, who survives.

He has lived in Traverse City the past 22 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 323, Traverse City, and a former member of the American Legion. He served in the U. S. Army in World War II. He was supervisor of Giant Supermarket in Mt. Pleasant for 10 years and has been manger of Oleson's Garfield Supermarket since 1952.

The funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. John Vincer of St. Christopher Episcopal Church in Northport and the Rev. Thomas Stoll of Grave Episcopal Church, Traverse City, officiating. Burial was in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Friends could call at the Reynolds Funeral Home, Traverse City and memorials could be directed to Munson Medical Center Memorial Fund.
