He was the son of Eben Swift Sr. and Susanne Palmer Swift.
On Saturday evening, September 20, 1913, he married Marion French, daughter of Major Charles French, United States Army at the home of the bride's parents at Fort Crook, Nebraska.
They were the parents of one child.

Colonel Eben Swift Jr. was the grandson of Deputy Surgeon General Ebenezer Swift and a brother of Major General Innis Palmer Swift, who organized, trained and commanded the First Cavalry Division during World War II. After his retirement in 1938 he settled in San Antonio, where he had been stationed several times during his army career. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, Mexican Punitive Expedition and World War I. He was a thirty second degree mason. He died on October 19, 1950 at the age of 70 years. Survivors included his widow, Marian Swift of 339 Natalen Street; one son, Lieut. Colonel Eben F. Swift; two grandchildren of San Antonio and one sister, Mrs. Carl S. McKinney of San Antonio. Funeral arrangements were announced after the arrival of his son from Germany.
