Patty Sue Eakin was born November 4, 1939 in Rising Star Texas, the daugher of John and Alda Eakin. She grew up in Merkel and graduated from high school there. She married Harold Hambrick on August 20, 1960 in Stith.
Her husband, a Department of Public Safety trooper, died of a heart attack July 7, 1974 after seeing his partner struck and killed by a car on Interstate 20, near Clyde.
Patty died January 18, 1980 after being struck by a car on Highway 36, near Temple. She had car trouble and was hit as she walked across the highway to talk to a trucker who had stopped to offer assistance.
Patty was the mother of four children, Anita, Monty, David and Linda. She also had a brother, Jimmy.
