Jane was the daughter of immigrants Edward & Eleanor 'Hughes' Foulke. She came to America with her parents on board the 'Robert and Elizabeth' in 1698 and settled in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania.
She married her first cousin Ellis Hughes and sometime after moved from where they then lived in Gwynedd to Exeter where she was appointed an Elder in which station she continued to serve to the end (about 30 years).
Jane and Ellis had 7 children:
1. John B. Hughes - b. 19 May 1714
2. William Hughes - b. 16 Feb 1716
3. Ann Hughes - b. 1717
4. Rowland Hughes - b. 29 May 1720
5. Samuel Hughes - b. 10 May 1722
6. Edward Hughes - b. 26 Apr 1724
7. Margaret Hughes - b. 14 Apr 1726
After Ellis' death, Jane lived with their daughter, Margaret, and son-in-law, Samuel Lee of Oley until she died in 1766.
