Enlisted September 30, 1861mustered in February 28, 1862 as Private with Co. A. 60th Ohio infantry promoted October 24, 1861 to 1st Lieutenant mustered out for a Commission November 10, 1862 mustered in May 2, 1864 as Lieutenant Colonel with Field & Staff 168th Ohio Infantry mustered out September 8, 1864.

Civil War Veteran 60th OVI and the OH 168th, also the respected publisher of the Hillsboro News-Herald.
