On January 26, 1947 she married Ernest E. "Ernie" Chandler at Wenatchee. They moved to Ellensburg, where her husband attended Central Washington College and then to Seattle, where he attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry.
They lived a short time in Oroville and later in Cashmere, and in 1955, they moved to Leavenworth, where Dr. Chandler established his own dental practice. Together with her husband, she was active in the Leavenworth Lions Club, Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, Washington State Autumn Leaf Association. Lila and Ernie both were active in the L.I.F.E, (Leavenworth Improvement for Everyone) project which preceded the transformation of Leavenworth to the Bavarian Theme and she was a great supporter of the school district.
While living in Leavenworth, she attended the Methodist Church.
Lila is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Bev Chandler of Spokane and Douglas and Jill Chandler of Seattle; one sister, Edith Quast of Entiat; two grandchildren, Clifford Ernest Chandler and Chelsea Michelle Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie in 1986; her parents; one sister; and one brother.
A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Lila M. Chandler will be conducted at 11:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, November 23, 2005, in the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church, with Pastor Roger Hudson, officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 to 7 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Chapel. Those who wish may make a memorial in her name to the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church Handicap Access Fund. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
