A memorial was dedicated in Centenary Cemetery by their descendants 15 Aug 1976. (orginally they were buried high on a hill between Centenary & Fairfield OH)

Benjamin Allison (son of John Allison and Amy Woods) was born 1750 in Haverstraw, Rockland County, NY, and died 10 Aug 1807 in Gallia Co, OH. He married Rachel Carter on 1783 in Warwick, Orange, NY.

Benjamin ALLISON served as a private in the Orange Co NY Militia under Capt Abraham Neely and Col Oliver Spencer.

He moved to Greenbrier Co, VA in 1792. He married Rachel Carter in Orange Co, NY before moving to Greenbrier Co, VA. Benjamin and his family moved to Green Township, Gallia Co, OH in the early 1800's.

Benjamin and Rachel had the following children:
1. Benjamin Allison was born ca 1784 in Warwick, Orange Co, NY. He married Charlotte Adkins, on 2 Oct 1820, in Pike Co, OH.
2. Jessie Allison was born ca 1786 in Haverstraw, Rockland Co NY. He married Rachel James, on August 1818.
3. Ruamy Allison was born on 19 Jan 1788 in NY. She married John Samuel James on 7 Aug 1806, Gallia Co, OH.
4. Polly Allison was born ca 1790 in Haverstraw, Rockland, NY, married Rutherford.
5. John Allison was born on 7 June 1792, Greenbrier Co, VA. He married Rebecca Carter, on 3 Jan 1815, Gallia Co, OH.
6. Samuel Allison was born on 17 Nov 1793, in Greenbrier Co, VA. He married 1) Hannah Friend, on 23 May 1816 in Gallia Co, OH; 2) Mrs Margaret Booton, on May 1844, Gallia Co, OH.
7. Jemima Allison born 1796 in Greenbrier Co, VA. She married Thomas Kincaid, on 4 Nov 1814 Pike Co, OH.
8. Thomas Allison was born 24 Mar 1789 in Greenbrier Co, VA. He married 1) Nancy Carter, on 28 Aug 1817 Gallia Co, OH 2) Hannah Hudson, on 7 Sept 1851 Gallia Co, OH
9. James Allison born 1800 Greenbrier Co, VA married Margaret Guthery, on 3 Feb 1824, Pike Co, OH

The quotation, evidently from the Gallia Ohio history (of which I do not have a copy), says that B. Allison was in the Orange County NY Milita, under Col. Oliver Spencer. Wikipedia says Spencer was a Col. in the NJ Militia, not NY. "New York in the Revolution" (on-line) -- go to "Bounty Lands, Orange" -- puts Benjamin Allison in the Orange County 2nd Regiment.

Benjamin Allison, born abt 1750 in Haverstraw, NY, wife Rachel & Daniel Allison moved to Greenbrier County, WV in 1792 and finally to Gallia County, OH in 1803. Lived in Green Twp, Benjamin died in 1807. “The DAR places Benjamin as serving under Capt. Abraham Neely and Col. Oliver Spencer.” Also served as a private in Capt. Richard Baly’s Company of Orange County Militia commanded by John Hathorn and Lt. Col. Henry Wisner.
