Mr. Fleet Hinson Cox, age 84, of Fort Mill, died Friday, June 1, 2007, at his home.

A memorial service was held at 11 AM Monday, June 4, 2007 at First Baptist Church Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Bedwell and the Rev. Benny Wade officiating.

Born May 14, 1923 in Charlotte, Mr. Cox was a son of the late Wilmer David Cox and Otis Burge Cox. He graduated from Indian Land High School. Mr. Cox was a World War II Navy Veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 43. He was retired from Celanese in Charlotte as a research and development technician. Mr. Cox was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, was a member of the Catawba Masonic Lodge No. 56, and was a former Shriner with Scottish Rites. He was a wonderful husband and father. He was a good gardener and enjoyed golf and square dancing.

He was survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy Lines Cox; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Roberta Cox of Rock Hill; two brothers, Thompson Cox of Burlington, NC and Jack Cox of Cherryville, NC; his sister, Nell Stevenson of Indian Land; and six grandchildren, Shannon Lewis, Eric Mullis, Charles Cox, David Cox, Bill Cox and Crystal Riggs. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Candice Chadwick and Katherine McMaster.
