William Isaac Cochran was born to David Cochran and Louisa (Roes) Cochran in Floyd county New Albany Indiana in 1844. The oldest of 7 children.
His siblings names were: Laura Cochran born in 1848,Joseph L.S. Cochran born 1854,Alice Cochran born 1857,Mary Cochran born 1860, Elsworth G. Cochran born 1863,Edwin Grant Cochran born 1864.
His Paternal grandparents were William Cochran and Deborah (Edwards) Cochran
In 1860 when William was 16 the family was living in Georgetown, Indiana.
He met his future wife Martha L. Reed while still living in Indiana and they were married Feb. 12,1862. (The license is dated Feb. 10, 1862.)
He joined Company C, 81st Indiana Volunteers August 13,1862 and was discharged January 13, 1865 after taking a musket ball to his leg making him a Civil war Veteran. The ball was never removed and yrs later led to his death by causing gangrene.
In 1870 at Age: 26 He and Martha were living in Jackson, Harrison, Indiana, United States. Sometime between then and 1910 They had moved to San Antonio Ward 7, Bexar, Texas.
He and Martha had 3 children: Emma L. Cochran born in Indiana in 1864, Sarah E.Cochran born abt. 1867 in Indiana and a son named James William (J.W.) Cochran born in Floyd co. New Albany, Indiana Jan. 19,1867.
William Isaac passed away Dec. 21,1917 in San Antonio, Texas and is buried in the San Antonio National Cemetery.
