Thomas Elmer Andrews, son of Marion Riggs and Emma McGee Andrews, born Oct. 06, 1895, in Stewart County, a twin to William Ennis Andrews. The Andrews children were: Marvin Lee, Mary Ella, Eliza, Bessie, Cora Edith, Henry Pinkney and Ennis and Elmer.

The Andrews ancestors came from England settled in Virginia. William Andrews Jr. served in the American Revolution and was granted a grant of land, 200 acres. William Andrews Jr. married Ann Brooks and they had four children; Ephraim, David, William, Henry. David s/o Wm Andrew Jr. born 1770, moved to Wake Co. N.C. in 1815, removed to TN , first in Sumner Co. and later to Stewart Co. Henry, born Sept 18, 1799, in N.C. moved to Stewart Co. 1815 with his father. In 1830 Henry married Rebecca Sexton and their family of six children were: Pink, Mary, Emma, Eliza, Missouri, and Marion. Henry and Rebecca Sexton Andrews were Thomas Elmer's grandparents. They lived on Ribbon Branch of Standing Rock Community of Stewart County, TN. This is the farm that Marion Riggs Andrews and Emma McGee Andrews raised their family.

Thomas Elmer at 22 years entered the U.S. Army (World War I) and left the service with an honorable discharge and partial service related disability. He and his twin brother ran the Bedford Forrest Hotel in Dover for a period of time.

It was at the hotel that Elmer met Bertie Evelyn Carter who was a hairdresser there. A few years later they moved to Ribbon Branch to the Andrews home place. There Elmer farmed and served as a substitute Rural Mail Carrier. They had four children; Mary Emma, Sara Frances , Thomas Elmer Jr. and Anna Lois Louise.

Thomas Elmer Andrews died Dec. 15, 1975, and is buried in Ft. Donelson National Cemetery Dover, TN.
