Mrs. Mattie Brooks Quein, 91, resident of the P.E.O. Home here the past two years, died Friday afternoon.
Born Feb. 16, 1869 at Athens, Ohio, she started teaching school in Beatrice before 1900. Her husband, John R. Quein, was Clerk of the District Court here about the turn of the century. The Queins left Beatrice many years ago, Mr. Quein died in 1949. Mrs. Quein lived in Lincoln, before moving to the P.E.O. Home in Beatrice in 1957.
She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church and a charter member of Beatrice Chapter Z, P.E.O.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from Harman Mortuary, Rev. Walter Jewett D.D. in charge. Interment will be made in Evergreen Home Cemetery."
