Andrew Harrison "Andy" Hollen, Jr, 85 of Hollidaysburg died Sunday at Altoona Regional Heath System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

He grew up in Juanita, son of Andrew Harrison, Sr., and Harriet Marie (Reeseman) Hollen. He married Grayce Ann Watson Oct 22, 1955 in Winchester, VA. She preceeded him in death Aug 14, 2005.

He is survived by his daughter, retired Maj Andrea Lee Hollen, US Army , of Baltimore and her finance, Raphael Posey: three sisters: Margaret Beck of Tyrone, Betty Mock of Juniata and Harriet Mae Brooks and her husband, Leslie of Altoona; and two brothers; Robert Hollen of Largo, Fla, and Thomas Reeseman of Grove city, PA

He was preceeded in death by a daughter, Maxine Ann Hollen

Andy was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Altoona. he retired after 35 years of service from WFBG and WTAJ, where he worked as an engineer, cameraman and transmitter operator after starting in radio for Gable's Braodcasting as an engineer and announcer.

He was a 1942 grduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a techinician 4th grade in the 410th Engineers construction Battalion during WWII.

Andy and his wife Grayce Ann, were avid community volunteers, serving at Fort Roberdeau locally and working with underprivileged youth at the Hertiage center and Thrift Shop in Vero Beach, Fla, where they lived for 10 years.

He was a member of Mountain Lodge F & AM in Altoona and a Civil War historian, and he enjoyed vintage radio and televison equipment.

Friends will be received from 6-10 p.,m, Wed Oct 15, 2008 at E Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc. 2309 Braid Ave, Altoona. A funeral service will be held a 1:30 p.m., Thursday Oct 16, 2008 at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
