Mary E. Olbrich, 91, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday Oct. 14, 2008, at Harbor Chase Nursing Home in Venice.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1917 to George and Pearl (Dildine) Rector Sr.
She retired from the Vigo County School Corp., where she worked as a Media Specialist. She loved sewing and made dresses and shirts for needy children in Haiti. She also worked as a volunteer for the Cancer Society in Venice.
Survivors include a brother, George H. Rector Jr. and wife Linda of Venice; a sister, Frances Rector Buell of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews, Wayne Euriga and wife Phyllis of Carmel, Barbara Hopkins of Nokomis, Fla., Martha Jones and husband Ed of Terre Haute, Marilyn McMullen and husband John of Rosedale, Georgia Lynn Glanzman and husband Chris of South Elgin, Ill., Les Boling and wife Martha of Riley, Nancy Wood and husband Oliver, David Buell and wife Terry all of Terre Haute, Paul Buell and wife Susan of Seelyville, Mark Buell of Terre Haute, Martha Kelley and husband George of Warwick, R.I., Mary Katherine and husband Colin of Providence, R.I., and Nancy Rector of Philadelphia. Also surviving are many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest H. Olbrich, who passed away in 1987; a nephew, Herman Earl Rector; brothers, Herman and William Rector; and an infant brother; and sisters, Thelma Euriga, Mable Waide, Helen Rector, and Martha Boling.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., Terre Haute. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary's name may be made to Hospice in Venice, Florida, 220 Wexford Blvd. Venice, FL 34293.
