Elmer T. Denman, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Liberty, NY to the late Elmer R. and Mollie (Travis) Denman, and had lived in Sussex County for most of his life.
He had been the owner and operator of Pleasant Acres Farm Campground in Wantage, NJ, and had retired from the family business in 1986. Mr. Denman was a member of the Wantage United Methodist Church, a past member of both the Greenville and Colesville Fire Departments, was an active member of the New Jersey Campground Owner's Association, and served many years on the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show Fair Committee.
He was predeceased by his son, William V. Denman in 2003. Mr. Denman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeannie L.; four sons: E. John Denman and his wife, Joan of Sussex, NJ, Daniel Denman and his wife, Denise of Montgomery, NY, Kenneth Denman and his wife, Kathleen of Slate Hill, NY, and Richard Denman and his wife, Madeline of Sussex, NJ; a daughter, Elizabeth Denman of Sussex; his sister, Frances Capazzoli of New Jersey; 14 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex, NJ (973-875-3272). Interment will be in Clove Cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects to the family on Friday, October 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Wantage Twp. First Aid Squad, 721 Route 23, Wantage, NJ 07461 or to the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.
