LOS ANGELES - David L. Ewing, 64, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Olympia Medical Center in Los Angeles, following an extended illness.

David was born in Springfield on Oct. 3, 1943, son of DeWitt and Elizabeth Ewing.

After graduating from Springfield High School in 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a medical corpsman with the Air Rescue Service in Libya. He later moved to California and continued his career serving others as a nurse with the Department of Radiation Oncology at the UCLA Medical Center.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his brother, Dan Ewing of Martinez, Calif. Also surviving are his brother, Derek Ewing of Loami; sister, Eleanor Ewing of Springfield; and their mother, Norma Ewing of Springfield.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
