"Nancy A. Cessna, 91, 1662 N. Walnut, Danville, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 1987, at her home. She was born August 24, 1896, in Hope, the daughter of John and Nancy Jean Read Cessna.

She attended grade and high school in Danville. She graduated from Eastern Illinois Teachers College and attended the University of Illinois. She taught school in the primary grades 42 years and taught first grade at Franklin Grade School the last 28 years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She served on YWCA Board, Child Walfare and Visiting Nurses Association and the Auxiliary of the Salvation Army. She was a life member of Danville Woman's Club, Vermilion County Museum Society, National Eduation Association, Danville YWCA, Vermilion County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Surviving are four nieces, Nancy Ramm, Potomac, Jean Bailey, Tucson, Arizona, Dorothy McGary, Veedersburg, and Harriett Felis, Mobile Alabama; four nephews, John Cessna, Mineral, Mont Cessna, Walnut, David Cessna, Potomac, and John French, Fox Lake; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, seven brothers, three half sisters and four half brothers.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pape Memorial Home with Dr. George Pope officiating. Burial was in Emberry Cemetery, Collison, Illinois. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the First Presbyterian Church." – Star Tribune, October 6, 1987
