Clara Ellen Johnson, third child, second daughter of Annie Bell Anderson and Edgar Franklin "Frank" Johnson was born August 31, 1902 at Soldier, Kansas. She attended the Circleville High School for 2 yrs. and graduated from the Mayetta High School with the class of 1922.
Clara and Ora were married in Holton, Ks. Oct 3, 1922. They lived on a farm on the reservation six miles southwest of Holton, Ks. They had two babies both died in infancy.
Clara died almost instantly, when the car in which she was riding overturned over a ten foot embankment on the reservation, pinning her beneath it. Her sisters, Marian and Effie and two nieces were in the car with her. The accident occurred when the engine stalled going up the hill and the brakes didn't hold. The car backed into the ditch. This was June 27, 1927. Clara is buried at the Holton Cemetery.
