CORPORAL HART KILLED IN ACTION IN SOUTH PACIFIC
War Department Reports Eleventh County Casualty; Member of Local Guards
Word was received by Mrs. Pearl Hart, Lynchburg, Rt. 2, Sunday that her son, Corp. Lowell Hart, 23, had been killed in action on July 25.
Corp. Hart is Highland County's 11th war casualty. He was stationed somewhere in the South Pacific and was a member of Company G, Hillsboro National Guard unit, that was inducted into the army in October, 1940.
Mrs. Hart was notified of her son's death by the War Department. The telegram informed her that a detailed letter would follow immediately.
The last word received by Mrs. Hart from her son was on June 14, when she received a letter informing her that he was well and safe.
Corp. Hart is survived by his mother, two brothers, Sgt. Harold Hart, also a member of Co. G, and stationed somewhere in the South Pacific, and James, at home, and seven sisters, Mrs. Lee Frost, Lynchburg Rt. 2, Mrs. Oliver Doty, Hillsboro Rt 3; Mrs. Amiel Stacy, Farmersville; Mrs. Albert Capelle, Santa Barbara, Calif; Dorothy, Patterson Field; June and Joy, both at home.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR CORPORAL HART

A memorial service for Cpl. Lowell Hart, 23, who was killed in action in the South Pacific, will be held at the Fairview Church of Christ at 3 P.M. Sunday.
Cpl. Hart is the son of Mrs. Pearl Hart, Lynchburg Rt. 2. He was a member of Company G. Hillsboro National Guard Unit, that was inducted into the army in October, 1940. he was a member of the Fairview Church, and Sunday's memorial service will be conducted by the minister, Roy C. Blackmore.
