New Castle News, July 11, 1951:
Mrs. George Fritzius, aged 79 years, nee Anna Elizabeth Hammond, died Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew S. Fritzius (Ethel Pearl Alexander), 306 West Cherry street. While under the doctor`s care for some time, she was performing her household duties an hour before her death. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1920.
Mrs. Fritzius was born in May, 1872 in New Castle, living most of her life in this vicinity.
Survivors are: a son, Andrew W. Fritzius, New Castle, besides the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ida Carraher, Joseph Hammond and Mrs. Emma Gutings, all of Cleveland, O., Frank Hammond, Pittsburgh, Mrs. Bartberger, this city, and Edward L. Hammond, Swea City, Ia.
The body has been returned from the W. S. Caskey funeral home to the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew W. Fritzius, 306 West Cherry st, where friends may call any time.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the late home with Rev. O. G. Shindledecker officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
