Died
In this village, on the 24th inst., of consumption Rufus H. Darling, son of Abner and Sally Darling, aged 41 years.
Mr. Darling has been a resident of this place for many years, having left Rome, Oneida county, N.Y., and removed to Michigan in 1840. He has been closely identified with many public enterprises connected with our village and until his health failed him, was one of our most public-spirited and active businessmen and best citizens. An invalid for several years, he has finally been called to a better world and has put off this mortality with a Christian’s faith in the blessed promise. He leaves a wife and several children, as well as a host of friends to morn his loss. He was buried with Masonic honors.
