MRS. GIDDINGS Widow of the Late Ex-Gov. Marsh Giddings Is Dead.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 33.-Mrs. Louisa M. Giddings, widow of ex-Governor Marsh Giddings, died here today of pneumonia. Her husband was governor of New Mexico during President Grant's administration.
Mrs. Giddings was born 77 years ago in Michigan. Her remains will be taken to Kalamazoo for interment.
Mrs. Giddings was the daughter of Augusta Mills of Richland She was married in 1836. There were three children, one of whom, William Giddings, survives her. She lived for many years in this city J. H. Mills, a nephew, received a letter today stating that the remains would start from Kansas City this evening accompanied by Miss Birdie Giddings, an adopted daughter. They will arrive Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be at Mountain Home, where her husband and two daughters are buried. Kalamazoo Daily Telegraph March 23, 1896 page 2

The Remains of Mrs. Marsh Giddings to be Interred Tomorrow.
The remains of Mrs. Louisa Giddings, widow of Judge Marsh Giddings, arrived at 2 o'clock this afternoon, accompanied by her daughter, who resides in Kansas City. The remains were taken to the home of her nephew, J. H. Mills of Kalamazoo avenue.
Additional services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at the home of J. H, Mills, 723 west Kalamazoo avenue, when a prayer will be offered by Rev. T. E. Barr. The remains may be seen after 9 o’clock tomorrow morning. There will be a short service at the grave at Mountain Home.
The remains were accompanied by her adopted daughter, Mrs. Birdie Minter, who was married by the bedside of her mother, who wished to see her married. Mrs. Giddings was formerly a member of the First Congregational church and was highly thought of. She leaves two brothers, Henry Mills of Chicago, formerly of Gull Prairie, and Willard S. Mills of California, formerly of this city, E. T. Mills of this city is a cousin.
Mrs. Giddings brought the remains of her husband, the late Judge Marsh Giddings, governor of New Mexico at the time of his death, by ambulance with a few soldiers to the nearest railway station. There she met with refusal for the remains to be carried by train. She sat down in the depot and refused to move until a special permit was telegraphed for. She went to Kansas City, where she found herself almost insane. She had looked every night for Indians and was completely worn out, so the husband's remains were sent on to Kalamazoo, where they were interred in Mountain Home cemetery.
