Ray W. Kinserlow Sr., 82, son of Bert and Cora (Brackett) Kinserlow, was born June 10, 1921, at Raymondville, Missouri. He died March 31, 2004, at Lubbock, Texas.
He grew up in Texas County, Missouri and married Susie Belle Green Sept. 23, 1944, at Springfield.
Mr. Kinserlow served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 129th Infantry Regiment of the 27th Infantry Division. He fought in battles in the Northern Solomons and earned medals including the Bronze Star, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and a Victory Medal.
He was a maintenance mechanic for Southwestern Public Service for more than 37 years, retiring in 1984. He moved to Seagraves in 1946 and to Lubbock in 1991 after his retirement.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seagraves.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gurnell; and two sisters, Bessie Emmline and Nellie Leeann.
Surviving are his wife of the home; a son, Ray Jr. of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Ann Ortt of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Leta Tucker of Kansas City, Kan., Blanche Huff of Licking and Shirley Woods of Kansas City; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Military graveside services were April 2 at the Gaines County Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Tingle officiating under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors.
