The paternal Lineage of SHEFFIELD⁸ COLLINS KNOWLES ( Henry⁷ Anthony Knowles,
Henry⁶ , Robert⁵, Joseph⁴, Robert³ , William², Henry¹)

The Maternal lineage of SHEFFIELD⁶ COLLINS KNOWLES ( Mary⁴ Knowles Collins , Eliza³ Knowles Collins, Mary² Hoxsie, Elizabeth¹ Kenyon ) the maternal line goes from mother to mother.

SHEFFIELD COLLINS KNOWLES (78 YRS 7 months, 10 days) was the first of six children born to Henry Anthony Knowles and Mary Knowles Collins. He was born in Smyrna, Chenango County, NY on Nov. 14, 1833. He died at his farm home south of Livermore, Iowa on June 24, 1912.

He moved with his parents to Lenewee county, MI about 1843. Many Quakers left Western New York state about that time for rich farmlands and their stance to support abolition of slavery. They lived for there for twenty years. In 1854 he married Martha Binns and in 1856 they came to Iowa Falls, Iowa and the rest of the family went to Humboldt county, Iowa.

At Iowa Falls, IA on Jan. 29, 1874 he married widow, Mrs. Olive Jane (Stoddard) Merriss, whose first husband was killed in war. She was the daughter of Truman and Clarissa Stoddard and was born in Litchfield, CT on Sept. 28, 1846. Cause of her death was a cancerous tumor.
And soon after they moved to Humboldt County.

One child was born to them, Elmer M. Knowles, who resides on the farm where his father's days were ended. One of the pioneers of this county, having lived on this farm for 40 years.

He was a member of the Baptist church and has always tried to live a true Christian life.

He was thrifty, economical, and reasonably successful financially in life, a God fearing man and a good citizen and neighbor, and the sympathy of the community is extended to his bereaved son and faithful wife who must now go onward through life without the sustaining help of a partner.

The funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Presbyterian church, Dr. Wiggins officiating. He is buried at the Union Cemetery in Livermore, Humboldt county, Iowa.
