Early Sunday morning, God whispered in her ear and Mary Ellen Penn Younger went home to rest.
A mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, her life spanned eight decades; she saw God's miracles of progress and success that most have only read about in books. Mary physically fought with a blood disorder for over 40 years and did not give in but triumphed... and then let go.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Penn Sr. and Atlee Bolar Penn; three sisters, Ethel Mae Donaldson, Doris Jean Lyman and Shirley Ann Penn; two brothers, James Penn Jr., and Robert Leon Penn; three brothers-in-law, Raymond Chambers, Clyde Grey and Willie C. Donaldson Sr.; and grandson, Casey Ransom.
Mary leaves to celebrate her life her husband of 45 years, Isaac Younger Jr.; her six daughters, Donna Ransom and husband Anthony Leonard and Mary Sawyer and husband Leroy, all of Huntsville, Donna Brown and husband Errol of Tampa, Fla., Pamela Younger of Hartford, Conn., Gwendolyn Cherry of Washington, D.C., and Linda Casey and husband Wayne of Atlanta; five sons, Leon Ransom and wife Tonia of San Jose, Calif., Larry Ransom and wife DeLois, and William Manning and wife Barbara, all of Huntsville, Bruce Younger and wife Joann of Washington, D.C., and Roosevelt Penn Ransom of Hartford; two sisters, Ida Chambers of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Frances Grey of Mobile; brother, Lamarr Penn of Mobile; two sisters-in-law, Roseanne Younger of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Arneda Penn of Atlanta; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Younger of Myrtle Beach, and Charles Younger of Washington, D.C.; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grand-children; one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
