Funeral services for Shaw were held at noon this Monday in St. Louis County. He was interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, and five children, 13 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW and the DAV.

John E. Shaw, a 77-year-old resident of west Ste. Genevieve County, was killed in his home, apparently in a struggle with an intruder.

According to Sheriff Gary Stolzer, at about 2 p.m. last Thursday a male intruder entered a trailer home at Collins Court and Heritage Hills, off Route D near Farmington. The location is about 20 miles from the City of Ste. Genevieve.

At a press conference at the local sheriff's department last Friday, Stolzer said it was believed the intruder entered through the front door of the Shaw residence. Evidence of a struggle was found in the home.

Shaw's wife managed to escape into a nearby field with a cell phone and was able to call law enforcement. Deputies responded and found Shaw dead inside the home. His wife was found hiding outside the house.

Ronald David Wright, 46, of 420 Quarry Road, Farmington, is being held on felony charges of first degree murder, armed criminal action and first degree burglary. The warrant for his arrest on the charges was issued today, October 21.
