In the Men's Minutes of the Dartmouth Friends Meeting, now kept at the Rhode Island Historical Society in the minutes for 16 Apr 1762 it was noted that "Tiley Wilcox hath transgressed the good orders of Friends in marriage and also in having a child too soon after marriage... the Visitors have alboured with him and he doth not incline to make any satisfaction." Daniel Russell and Nicholas Howland were appointed to discourse with him further and report to the next meeting.
Fortunately for his descendants, Tiley did not at that point repent; if he had, the record would have stopped there. As it turned out, a paper of denial was draw up and William Anthony was appointed to read it at the end of a First Day meeting for worship. On 16 8th month, 1762, it as read:

"Wereas Tiley Willcox son of Stephen Willcox and Mary his wife and Deborah the wife of said Willcox and daughter of Benjamin Russell all of Dartmouth in the county of Bristol in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England, the said Willcox and wife being both under the care of Friends (the People called Quakers) yet for want of keeping to the Spirit of the Truth in themselves have given way to loose and vain conversation as plainly appears by her having a child so soon after marriage: they being married out of the good order established among us, and they having been duly dealt with in order to bring them to a sight of their outgoings, but nothing appearing to Friends satisfaction of their repentance, : for the clearing of the blessed Truth of such scandalous practices we can do no less but give forth this as a public denial against them the said Tiley Willcox and Deborah his wife, denying them to be in unity with us the abovesaid people, yet truly desiring if it be the will of God, they may come in sight of their outgoings and unfeigned repentence."

"Tyle Wilcox (1740-1809) served in the 4th company, 13 th regiment, Albany Co. Militia. This is known as Van Veghten's Regiment. He was born in Rhode Island; died in Greenfield."

Tylee and his wife's grave is located on a small knoll 50' from the road on Rt. 9N several hundred yards south of the Railroad over pass in north Greenfield. It is on the west side of the road.
