Mrs. Lizzie James Wallace, 78, of Delco died Thursday morning at her home after an extended illness. She was a native of Columbus County and the daughter of the late Jim and Alice Champion Byrd. Final rites were held Sunday at 3 pm at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, of which she was a member, by the Revs. Alton Bradshaw, Harvey English and J.D. Dunn with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Willie L. Wallace of the home; five sons, Willie L. Jr., Roley, D.J. and Tom Wallace, all of Delco and E.W. Wallace of Wilmington; two daughters, Mrs. Walla Wilkins of Florence, South Carolina and Mrs. Lizzie J. Lewis of Wilmington; two brothers A.E. Byrd of Wilmington and D.J. Byrd of Norfolk, Virginia; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Alford, Mrs. Jane Carney, and Mrs. Susie Nylon, all of Wilmington; 25 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
