Funeral services for Archie Ernest Byrd, 82, who died Sunday morning in New Hanover Memorial Hospital following a long illness, will be held Tuesday 3 pm in Coble's Oleander Chapel with Minister H.W. English officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church cemetery in Freeman.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs Mary Jane Byrd of the home; two sons, James D and Theodore C Byrd, both of Wilmington; one daughter, Mrs Cecile Burkett of Wilmington; one brother, Dudley Byrd of Portsmouth, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs Sue Nylon and Mrs Jane Carney, both of Wilmington; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
