She was the daughter of Joseph and Maria Silva. She crossed the continent by covered wagon when she was four years old, reaching the Sacramento area area in 1859. She married Antone Pereira/Perry on May 2, 1867. They had ten children: Veronica, Wilbert, Mary, Antone, Emma, Fatima, Clara, Carrie, Maggie, William, and Joseph. Maria was attending her daughter Clara during the birth of Clara's child Joseph on January 9, 1909, when she suddenly fell ill, and died the next day, at age 55.

PERRY ------Below Oak Hall, January 30, 1909, Mary G. Perry, dearly beloved wife of Antone Perry, loving mother of Manual, Antone, and Joseph Perry, Mrs. A. M. Bettencourt, Mrs. M. Lewis, Mrs. Joseph Azevedo. Mrs. J. Machado, Mrs. John Azevedo, Mrs. J. Alves, and the late William Perry, a native of Portugal, aged 54 years, 8 months. Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral to-morrow, February 2nd, at 9 a. m., from the home of her daughter, below Oak Hall, thence to the Cathedral, where requiem high mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul, commencing at 10:30 a. m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Members of St. Elizabeth Society, Council No. 12, S.P.R.I.S., are requested to meet at Serra Hall, Tuesday, February 2nd, at 9 a. m., to attend the funeral of our late sister, Mrs. Mary G. Perry. By order of the PRESIDENT.
