The announcement Friday of the death of Alexander F. Jenison was a shock and surprise to his friends, many of whom did not even know that he was ill. A week ago he was confined to his room by illness which rapidly developed into an attack of pneumonia. It was realized from the start that his condition was serious and a few days ago it was known that the chances were greatly against his recovery. Death came to his relief Friday. He was 55 years of age. He was a man who had a wide acquaintance in this city and stood high in he estimation of all who knew him. In early life he learned the jewelers trade and understood that business in all of its details.

He was a native of Indianapolis and came to this city 22 years ago. He engaged in the jewelry business but afterward received an appointment in the mail service and for 17 years he was a postal clerk on the Wabash. He retired from the service during Cleveland's administration and again entered the jewelry business in this city. His store is located in the old library block on N. Main.

He was married on March 20,186 to Miss Estella Bramble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Bamble who with five children survive him. The children are Guy Jension of Blaine Washington, Mrs. Hattie Willis of Ottumwa, Iowa, George D., Miss Marie, Edward Of Decatur.

He was a member of the First Baptist church and a member of the Knights of Pythias.
